INTRODUCTION:

The project “ONLINE BOOKSTORE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” is a ecommerce website for bookstore which provides online books shopping for user customers and customers can view the orders and the status of the order using login dashboards. This website has option of administrator who can add books, view orders and update the status of the orders which customers can see through his login order page. The software system provides facilities for adding new item, removing an item, updating the stock, calculating the turn over, sales amount, total number of stocks.

OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT:

  1. To develop a online Book Store Management system provides very easy process of buying Books.
  2. To develop that system computerizes automation system.
  3. To develop a very less time for processing of various tasks.
  1. To design a system in such a way that even a non-technical person can use it.
  2. To make the software completely user friendly.
  3. To reduce the working hours.
  4. To avoid errors like entering the wrong data.
  5. To provide the facility of generating printed reports.

Problem statement and literature review:

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

A problem statement is a concise description of the issues that need to be addressed by a problem solving team and should be presented to them (or created by them) before they try to solve the problem. When bringing together a team to achieve a particular purpose provide them with a problem statement.

  • Employee has to go through many records to find any particular transaction, which can take up a lot of time and effort.
  • In case casher forgot any items code it is difficult to calculate the amount, it can create some other problem.
  • End user should have the basic knowledge of the computers.
  • Keeping of records of sales and purchase on papers was time consuming and was difficult to store it for long time
  • It takes a lot of time to generate reports that to have a question of 100% accuracy in one time.

LITERATURE REVIEW:

According to literature analysis results, many independent variables are identified.

While some of the independent variables cited in Table 1 pertain to only one

article, other independent variables appear in multiple articles.

According to literature analysis results, many independent variables are identified.  It has been more than a decade for the use of internet to be much common in each individual institution. The revolution of internet has influenced all types of age groups from seniors to teenagers; from veterans to trainees, each and every person had his way of learning the method and using it for his own convenience. On campus, bookstore is popular among students in textbook downloads, but for most sellers the medium of internet is most preferred medium for selling (Krey, Clow & Babin, 2009).

A study by Krey, Clow, & Babin (2009) found that 96% of students downloads or rent the required textbook for a college. Yang (2003) empirically examined the probability of students downloading their textbooks online with the conclusion that, downloading textbooks online can be predicted by possession of computer and the internet skills, having a retentive attitude towards money and dissatisfaction with the university bookstore.

Thus he concluded that most of students preferring the on campus bookstores were seen to be freshman. The main purpose of the project is to help in faster access of learning materials that improves the level of education in the Universities. Books download with respect to the current way of studying in universities leading edge over others.

Methodology and references:

RESEARCH DESIGN:

Research design simply means a search of answers to questions and solutions to problems. It is a prospective investigation. Research is a systematic and logical study of an issue or problem through scientific method. There are various research designs, but descriptive and analytical research design is most suitable for this study.

DATA COLLECTION DESIGN

Data would be collected with the help of using questionnaires. A questionnaire, which is also known familiarly as an interview schedule with a format containing a list of questions sequentially order to obtain information relevant to the objectives of the study.

SOURCES OF DATA:

                        1          PRIMARY DATA &

                        2          SECONDARY DATA.

1 PRIMARY DATA:

The primary data would be collected through personnel interviews with experienced development team and other technical head. The required information will be collected in the following technique:

TECHNIQUES:

  • On the basis of observations
  • Questionnaire
  • By group discussions with concerned technical team.
  • By personnel interviews with head of organization.

  1. SECONDARY DATA:

Secondly data will be acquired through various sources such as other education website.

The required information will be collected in the following techniques:

Techniques:

  • Organizational Manuals
  • Records
  • Documents & Statements
  • Internet

The following can serve to be the sources of information:

  • The store’s administrative staff.
  • The management of bills.
  • The old bills or the history of bills.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE:

System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is the overall process of developing information systems through a multi-step process from investigation of initial requirements through analysis, design, implementation and maintenance. There are many different models and methodologies, but each generally consists of a series of defined steps or stages.

The software development life cycle (SDLC) is the entire process of formal, logical steps taken to develop a software product.

The phases of SDLC can vary somewhat but generally include the following:

  1. Conceptualization
  2. Requirements and Cost/Benefits Analysis
  3. Detailed Specification of the Software Requirements
  4. Software design
  5. Programming
  6. Testing
  7. User and Technical Training
  8.  Maintenance
