INTRODUCTION:

In this project “Courier management system” is software which is used manage the work regarding the services of the courier in an effective & efficient manner. This project deals with the ‘Courier management’. This project will be used for daily activities such as booking, non-delivery, out return, company details, hub rates, and pickup centers. It is very difficult to do this process manually. Hence it is recommended to computerize the process by developing the relative software as the world is turning into information about courier services.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To provide automation in courier operations providing speed and cost benefits.
  2. To increase operational efficiency.
  3. To integrate with optical bar code readers.
  4. To maintains report of daily processed records and proof of delivery report.
  5. To provide proper employee and delivery boy information management.
  6. To provide packet tracking facility.

PROBLEM STATEMENT AND LITERATURE REVIEW:

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

  • In courier service the rate of each consignment or item is fixed. The rate of consignments is depending on the weight of the consignments. So the calculation of rate & monthly income are not done easily.
  • In courier services, the payment is made in credit or cash. So for the billing procedure for the regular customer, we have to refer all the records in Export Report. For this reasons this task is more time consuming.
  • It involves managing a huge number of data each having separate data items.
  • All the work is done at a very large volume, so we have a possibility of losing the data.

LITERATURE REVIEW:

According to Nick Mathiason &)( 2007)’, a courier is a person or company employed to deliver messages, packages and mail. Couriers are distinguished from ordinary mail services by features such as speed, security, tracking, signature, specialization and individualization of services, and committed delivery times, which are optional for most everyday mail services. As a premium service, couriers are usually more e” pensive than usual mail services, and their use is typically restricted to packages where one or more of these features are considered important enough to warrant the cost. Courier Management System is the simplest solution for Courier & Cargo Tracking Business.

This Courier Management System project will have different modules. The login section will have login facility for the admin who will operate this system and online tracking system of consignment and shipping detail for domestic shipping. While taking orders from its customers, it will take all the details of its customers who is placing the orders and all the details for the recipient such as its address, name, mobile number. During billing process, system generates a consignment number for their products. Through this consignment no. customers or its recipient will able to track their products from any location using internet.

Research is a systematic and logical study of an issue or problem through scientific method. Research is a systematic and objective analysis and recording of generalization, principles, resulting in prediction and possessing ultimate control of events.

  4. Monitor: 15” Color monitor with 16 million colors
  5. Pointing device: Two – button Mouse or 3-button Mouse.

1.primary data:

The primary data will be gathered through personal interaction with various functional heads and other technical personnel.

2.SECONDARY DATA:

This data would be collected from the published news paper, internet, relevant website etc

SAMPLING TECHNIQUE:

In this study, systematic random sampling will be used for selecting samples.

In this project, the administrator can define or modify routes, fares schedules and assign or deny access for authorized users.

  •  Reservation Module.

This module is to be used for booking the ticket for courier.

 

  • Search Module:

This module is to be used to search the Flights on the basis of source, destination and routes.

  • Payment:

It provides the airline system with the ability to set up various payment options for reservations.

  • Cancellation:

This module is to be used to cancel the existing booking.
