INTRODUCTION:

An Online Bill Payment System facilitates the acceptance of electronic payment for online bill payment. Also known as a sample of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Online Bill Payment System have become increasingly popular due to the widespread use of the internet-based bill payment.

Over the years, credit cards have become one of the most common forms of payment for billing transactions. Increased security measures include use of the card verification number (CVN) which detects fraud by comparing the verification number printed on the signature strip on the back of the card with the information on file with the cardholder’s issuing bank.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT:

  1. To Information retrieval will become easy.
  2. To maintenance of database as well as overall project will  become easy.
  3. Security measure will be adopted, by maintaining the login of username and the password.
  4. To reduce workload of staff.
  5. To reduce the delay in processing time.
  6. To reduce the delay in bill generation.
  7. To provide greater flexibility.
  8. Make maintenance changes easy.
  9. To store data in a centralized location to reduce redundancy and increase consistency.

 

 

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

 

In the existing system all the persons work was done manually. They pay the bills on couters. The manual work processes was time consuming and hence slow. Following are the main drawbacks of the existing system:

  • The existing system is totally manual thus there are chances of error in processing.
  • The basic and major drawbacks in the existing system are the speed of retrieval of data from files, which leads to delay.
  • Maintenance of voluminous data is very cumbersome and laborious job.
  • The manual jobs such as calculation are more error prone.
  • There are plenty of chances of duplicity of data and information.
  • Updating is very tedious job.
  • There is no central database from where one can get different statistical data at one place.

 

LITERATURE REVIEW:

The current systems regarding bill payments currently is done in such a way that utilities companies or service providers send invoices to their customers through the traditional mail. After the customer receives the invoices or bill, he or she visits the utilities branches to effect or make payments over the counter through revenue collectors. The utilities companies do have their own billing systems that store customer’s details and bill details. After payment the billing system at the utilities company are updated and the customer will be given a receipt as proof of payment. The customers are highly mobile people who change their addresses more often and the bills posted to customers may often not arrive to customers on time. The service providers have embraced information technology to help customers to pay their bills at their own convenience. In the current scenario, customers will only be able to pay their bill during working hours only. The current IT trends that customers use to pay their bill at their own convenience are:

  • Cell phone Banking
  • Online Banking

COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

Following protocols are required to be permitted on the server side

  • HTTP incoming request

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • We have used JSP for server side scripting so the current version of JSP must be available on the server
  • MySQL database has been used for storing the data of the website
  • HTML has been used for creating the layout of the web application
  • CSS has been used for creating the designing of the webpages
  • JavaScript scripting language has been implemented on the system for performing all of the Client Side Server Validation.

A website development environment that will allow the creation of Interactive Web Pages. The coding techniques capable of accepting a client’s requests and processing these requests.

  WHAT IS HTML:

HTML is a mark-up language for describing web documents       (web pages).HTML stands for Hyper Text Mark-up Language. HTML documents are described by HTML tags. Each HTML tag describes different document content

WHAT IS CSS:-

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets.CSS defines how HTML elements are to be displayed. Styles were added to HTML 4.0 to solve a problem.CSS saves a lot of work. External Style Sheets are stored in CSS files

DATABASE DESIGN:

A database design is a collection of stored data organized in such a way that the data requirements are satisfied by the database. A collection of relative records make up a table. To design and store data to the needed forms database tables are prepared. Two essential settings for a database are:

  • Primary key: – The field that is unique for all the record occurrences.
  • Foreign key: – The field used to set relation between tables. Normalization is a technique to avoid redundancy in the tables.
